Judge William Burris

Judge William H. Burris is the District Judge for Division “E” of the Twenty – Second Judicial District Court of the State of Louisiana.

Judge William H. “Billy” Burris is a native of Franklinton, Louisiana. Judge Burris graduated from Franklinton High School, and thereafter completed his undergraduate matriculation at LSU obtaining his Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philosophy. Judge Burris graduated magna cum laude from Southern University Law Center. He began his legal career as an attorney at a law firm in Baton Rouge, and thereafter, opened his own practice in his home town of Franklinton. Judge Burris was elected to the bench in 2017, and sworn into office in January of 2018.

In his personal life, Judge Burris has held numerous positions in the legal field, and in his community. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, 22nd JDC Bar Association, Slidell Bar Association, and Washington Parish Bar Association where he served as President. He served on the House of Delegates for the Louisiana Bar Association. He served as President of the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce, and is a former member of both the Kiwanis Club, and the Rotary Club. Judge Burris is an Eagle Scout, and an ordained deacon at First Baptist Church, Franklinton.

Judge Burris’ hobbies include music, shooting sports, and many outdoors activities.
